Rohit Sharma declared fit, returns to MI playing XI vs LSG in IPL 2026
Rohit Sharma has been included in the Mumbai Indians’ playing XI for the IPL 2026 match against the Lucknow Super Giants at the Wankhede Stadium. He missed the previous five matches after picking up a hamstring injury in the home game against the defending champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
After scoring 19 runs, he left the field with the physio and went for the scans. The veteran continued to travel with the team and was working with the medical team behind the scenes. The team management left the decision of playing against LSG to Rohit, and after his approval, the legendary batter was drafted into the starting XI.
Mumbai fell apart in his absence, and the team tried different opening combinations without much success. Although Quinton de Kock and Ryan Rickelton scored hundreds, the five-time champions were not able to dominate the rivals. He was a part of four games before getting injured and amassed 137 runs at an average of 45.66 and a strike rate of 165.06.
The crowd went berserk when stand-in captain Suryakumar Yadav revealed the news of Rohit’s comeback.
However, regular skipper Hardik Pandya is out of the MI vs LSG game after falling ill. This is the second time he has missed a game in the 19th season of the tournament. He didn’t play the clash against the Delhi Capitals earlier in the ongoing edition.
