Lipulekh Marg: India strict regarding Mansarovar Yatra, calls Nepal’s claims unfair

New Delhi. India has rejected Nepal’s claims regarding the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra through Lipulekh Pass, calling them unfair and beyond facts. India has also made it clear that it is ready for constructive dialogue with Nepal to resolve all pending border issues.

External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, in response to media queries late on Sunday night, said that India’s position on the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra through Lipulekh Pass has always been clear and stable. He said that there has been no new development in this matter and this route has been in use as an established travel route since the year 1954.

Responding to Nepal’s territorial claims, the spokesperson said India has consistently maintained that such claims are neither justified nor based on historical facts and evidence. He said that unilateral and artificial expansion of territorial claims is not acceptable. India also reiterated that it attaches importance to bilateral relations with Nepal and is in favor of resolving all issues, especially border issues, through mutual consent, dialogue and diplomatic means.

It is noteworthy that Nepal has recently raised objection regarding the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra through Lipulekh Pass. Nepal says that India and China did not consult it on this subject, due to which this issue has again come into discussion.
