Knicks Deliver Historic Blowout Victory

The New York Knicks opened the Eastern Conference semifinals with a commanding 137-98 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers, continuing one of the most dominant postseason stretches in NBA history.

New York became the first team ever to win three consecutive playoff games by at least 25 points, showcasing elite offensive efficiency and defensive control.

Brunson Leads Early Offensive Explosion

Jalen Brunson set the tone early, scoring 27 of his 35 points in the first half.

His scoring burst helped the Knicks build a massive halftime lead, effectively putting the game out of reach.

“Yes, it’s turned into obviously big wins, but those attention to detail things are going to help us in the close ones as well,” Brunson said.

Balanced Scoring Fuels Knicks Dominance

The Knicks’ success wasn’t just about one player. Multiple contributors stepped up to overwhelm Philadelphia.

OG Anunoby added 18 points on efficient shooting, while Karl-Anthony Towns and Mikal Bridges each scored 17.

Towns also contributed six rebounds and six assists in limited minutes, highlighting the team’s depth.

“We’re playing well, but it doesn’t mean anything if we can’t find a way to get three more wins,” Towns said.

Historic Playoff Run Continues

After falling behind 2-1 in the first round, the Knicks have now won four straight games by a combined margin of 135 points.

They are also the first team since detailed tracking began in 1996-97 to lead three consecutive playoff games by at least 30 points.

Their recent dominance includes a 140-89 blowout win over Atlanta, where they set a postseason record with a 47-point halftime lead.

76ers Struggle to Keep Pace

The 76ers were unable to match New York’s intensity or efficiency.

Paul George led Philadelphia with 17 points, while Joel Embiid struggled, shooting just 3-for-11 for 14 points.

Tyrese Maxey added 13 points but didn’t score his first basket until the second quarter.

“They were obviously picking us apart, moving a lot better than we were,” 76ers coach Nick Nurse said.

Fatigue and Turnaround Factor

Philadelphia entered the game with limited rest after completing a comeback series against Boston just days earlier.

The quick turnaround appeared to impact their performance, as they struggled to keep up with the Knicks’ pace and execution.

Game Slips Away Before Halftime

The Knicks steadily built their lead throughout the first half, finishing strong with an 11-point run by Brunson to take a 74-51 lead into halftime.

By the third quarter, the lead ballooned to 30 points, allowing New York to rest starters and manage minutes.

Looking Ahead to Game 2

Game 2 is set for Wednesday in New York before the series shifts to Philadelphia.

Despite the lopsided result, the 76ers will look to regroup and adjust, while the Knicks aim to maintain their momentum.

Outlook: Knicks in Command Early

The Knicks have seized early control of the series with a dominant Game 1 performance.

If their current form continues, they could remain one of the most dangerous teams in the postseason.

However, the challenge will be sustaining this level of play as the competition intensifies.
