Pressure of captaincy… LSG coach Langer’s big statement on Rishabh Pant, said- ‘He plays with a smile, will return to form soon’

Mumbai. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) head coach Justin Langer said a price tag of Rs 27 crore does not always guarantee good performances, but Rishabh Pant is facing the pressure of captaining an Indian Premier League (IPL) team. He said this when his team is almost out of the play-off race. In the IPL match against Mumbai Indians, Pant was among those LSG batsmen who could not take advantage of the good starts from Nicholas Pooran (63) and Mitchell Marsh (44).

LSG’s score was 123 runs for one wicket in eight overs but in the end their team could only score 228 runs for five wickets and had to face defeat by six wickets. LSG had added Pant to their team for a huge amount but like last season, he has not been able to perform well this season. “I don’t think it has anything to do with any kind of money,” Langer told reporters here after LSG’s defeat.

It is not easy to hold the post of captain and there is a lot of pressure on him. He continues to put in his best efforts and work hard. “We love it when we see him smiling and playing with enthusiasm. He is not far away from returning to form. Langer said that Pant will continue to face the challenges boldly.

He said, “We played a practice match here two days ago and Pant scored 95 runs in about 40 or 30 balls. Looking at him, it seems that this is the best performance of Rishabh Pant. Langer said, “We have seen him dominating the other team while batting at number five in Test cricket. The way he batted two days ago is a good sign for the team. Hopefully he will win us matches in the future.

The former Australian opener termed the change in his batting order as a positive one. Puran has also returned to form after a bad phase. “We changed the batting order because you try to create the right combination and see what is the best approach for the team,” he said. If you’re winning, everyone says the combination is right. The positive aspect of our batting today was Nicky Pooran.
