According to local sources, the bulldozer reached the New Market area in the presence of heavy police force around 1:00 am on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday. The administration demolished the structure which was being used as an office by local TMC workers. This sudden action, which took place in the silence of the night, created chaos in the area.

KMC officials say that this construction was an illegal encroachment on public land. According to the administration, notices had been issued to the concerned party several times before, but this legal step had to be taken after the encroachment was not removed.

He called it an attempt to intimidate the party and warned that TMC will raise the issue at both legal and political levels.
