Dowry Death Case: Supreme Court expressed its displeasure on the decision of Allahabad High Court in the dowry death case and made a strong comment.

New Delhi. The Supreme Court has expressed its displeasure over the decision of the Allahabad High Court in a case related to dowry death and has made a strong comment. The top court said that the High Court granted bail to the husband accused of murdering his wife without considering the facts only on the ground that there was a delay in filing the FIR. The bench of Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice Vijay Bishnoi said that this is a case showing increasing cruelty to women regarding dowry and we believe that the High Court has made a grave error in exercising its discretion in favor of the accused.

According to the news of Bar and Bench, the Supreme Court has also expressed concern over the increasing cases of dowry harassment against married women. This case is from Ghaziabad where a woman was murdered for dowry in the year 2024. According to the complaint lodged by the father of the deceased woman, he had married his daughter to a young man named Prince Chaudhary in 2019. Rs 10 lakh in cash and an i20 car were given as dowry in the marriage. After some time, the dowry’s car met with an accident and the woman’s husband demanded the Fortuner car and Rs 10 lakh. When the demand was not met, the husband and other in-laws started harassing the woman and beating her.

Later, the woman’s father gave small amounts of Rs 10 lakh to his daughter’s in-laws on different occasions. On the morning of July 11, 2024, the woman called her father crying and told him that she was being assaulted. A few hours later, he got the news of his daughter being in the hospital. When he reached there, he was told that his daughter had died. After this, the woman’s father had filed a case of dowry death against 8 members of the family including his son-in-law Prince.
