Petrol Diesel Price Today: Huge movement in the prices of crude oil, yet the prices of petrol and diesel remain stable; Know the latest price of your city
Petrol Diesel Price Today, 06 May 2026: Amidst the continuous fluctuations in the prices of crude oil in the international market, a relief news has emerged for the Indian general public. Today i.e. on 6th May 2026, the country’s oil marketing companies (OMCs) have not made any change in the prices of petrol and diesel. Although the ongoing tensions in the Middle East and supply chain disruptions have raised concerns globally, prices in the domestic market currently remain stable.
Shadow of tension in the global market
There is an atmosphere of uncertainty in the global oil market at present. The increasing diplomatic tension between Iran, Israel and America has raised questions regarding the supply of oil. Experts believe that any blockage in the Strait of Hormuz, through which about 20% of the world’s crude oil passes, could set international prices on fire. Despite this, the Government of India and the government oil companies currently do not seem to be in favor of passing the burden of inflation on the common man.

This is sure to affect the pockets of hotel and restaurant operators. Additionally, prices of premium fuels such as XP100 and Xtra Green diesel, which are primarily used in high-performance and luxury vehicles, have also seen an increase. Private oil companies like Shell and Nayara Energy have also increased their rates in select areas.
Why do prices differ in every city?
The final price of fuel in India depends on many factors. This includes excise duty imposed by the central government, state government VAT, dealer commission and refining cost. Apart from this, the position of the rupee against the dollar also affects international purchases, which directly impacts the rates available at the pump.
