UP News: Tragic accident in Hamirpur, boat capsized in Yamuna river; 6 people feared drowning

UP News: A very sad incident has come to light from Hamirpur district of Uttar Pradesh. Here a boat suddenly overturned in the Yamuna river, due to which 9 people aboard got drowned in deep water. There has been a stir in the area after this accident. Rescue work was started immediately, in which three people were taken out safely, but there is a possibility of 6 people drowning. This accident happened when a wedding celebration was going on in a family and people had gone for a walk across the river in a happy atmosphere. As soon as information about the incident was received, the administration became active and a large-scale operation is being conducted to find the missing people.

The insistence on eating melon became overwhelming

The incident took place in Kurara area of ​​Hamirpur police station. The daughter of Shripal, resident of Majra Kotupur Patiya of Bhauli village here, was married on Tuesday. Guests had come to the house and there was an atmosphere of joy and happiness all around. After the daughter’s farewell on Wednesday, some guests and children who came home in the evening went to the other side of the Yamuna river to eat melon. A total of 9 people had crossed the river in a small boat. No one had any idea that a small picnic would turn into such a big tragedy. This horrific accident occurred while returning from the other side of the river.

Sailor’s negligence became the cause of the accident

A matter of great negligence is coming to light behind the accident. It is being told that when everyone was returning after eating melon, a young man named Vishnu was driving the boat. According to eyewitnesses, the boat was in the middle of the river when someone called on Vishnu’s mobile. Vishnu picked up the phone and started talking and his attention got diverted from the balance of the boat. While talking on the mobile, the boat started wavering and soon it overturned. As soon as the boat overturned, the children and women aboard started drowning in the water. Sailor Vishnu himself swam out, but the rest got trapped in the waves of water.

Promptness of rescue work and administration

Immediately after the accident, there was an outcry on the spot. Hearing the noise, people nearby gathered. With the help of local people, 14 year old Parul and Rinku were somehow pulled out of the water. Seeing the critical condition of both of them, they were immediately taken to Kurara Community Health Center with the help of an ambulance, where after first aid, they were referred to the district hospital. As soon as information about the incident was received, Sadar SDM Abhishek Kumar and CO Rajesh Kamal reached the spot with heavy police force. Considering the seriousness of the situation, along with local divers, NDRF team has also been called for help.

Search for missing people continues

Six people are still missing in this accident, including two real brothers. The missing people include innocent children and women, due to which there is an atmosphere of sadness in the village. The families of the drowned people are in bad condition, crying. Administration teams are searching every nook and corner of the river with the help of torches and boats. SDM Abhishek Kumar said that the administration is using its full strength to find the missing people. Top officials of the district are also reaching the spot so that the rescue work can be monitored. At present, despite it being dark, instead of stopping the search operation, efforts are being made to speed it up.
