Assam Election Result: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma submitted his resignation to the Governor, the process of forming a new government started.

Assam Election Result: In the results of Assam Assembly elections, BJP has returned to power with a huge majority. Now preparations have started again for the formation of a new government there. Regarding this, today Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma resigned along with his council of ministers. A statement has been issued by the Chief Minister’s Office in this regard, in which it has been told that Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma reached Lok Bhavan and met Governor Laxman Prasad Acharya. During this, he submitted his resignation and that of his Council of Ministers. The Governor has accepted the resignation. However, till the formation and swearing in of the new government, Himanta Biswa Sarma has been requested to take up the responsibility as the acting Chief Minister.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the swearing-in ceremony is likely to take place after May 11. He has requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend the oath ceremony. He further said that, we have received information that JP Nadda and Naib Singh Saini have been made observers for the legislature party meeting. As soon as he gives instructions to call a meeting of elected MLAs, we will organize the meeting. The process of oath taking ceremony will proceed only after the leader of the legislative party is elected.

Let us tell you that BJP had got a huge majority in the Assam Assembly elections. In the 126-member assembly, BJP alone defeated the opposition by winning 82 seats. This victory reflects the party’s growing support base in the state and public confidence in the leadership of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. At the same time, Congress was limited to only 19 seats.
