How India defeated Pakistan in 72 hours, American defense expert revealed on the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor.
New Delhi: American military expert John Spencer has praised India’s strategic victory on the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor. He said that India destroyed Pakistan’s air defense in just 72 hours and achieved complete superiority in the airspace.
John Spencer’s big revelation
John Spencer, a former US Army major and now an expert in war studies, said that this victory was not the result of a single attack but of several days of careful planning. In May 2025, India attacked terrorist targets in Pakistan and PoK on the night of 6-7 May. When Pakistan retaliated, India also gave a strong reply.
India’s smart strategy
On 8 May, India carried out targeted attacks on Pakistani air defense systems. Early warning radar and HQ-9 missile batteries were targeted in Chunian and Pasrur. These attacks were mostly carried out with loitering munitions (drones), due to which Pakistan’s radar and missile systems remained under constant pressure. This severely affected Pakistan’s ability to observe, command and respond.
S-400 changed the whole game
According to John Spencer, India’s S-400 air defense system targeted the Pakistani high value airborne platform from a distance of 300 kilometers. Due to this, the operation area of Pakistani Air Force aircraft became very limited. He had to be careful at every step.
India also made excellent use of its indigenous integrated air defense system IACCCS and Akash missile, which foiled hundreds of drone and missile attacks by Pakistan.
lessons of modern warfare
Spencer stressed that in today’s war, it is not just the fighter aircraft but the entire system that fights. India had better planning, depth and stronger integration of indigenous technology.
At the same time, Pakistan mainly depended on the weapons received from China, which gave some success in the beginning but later proved to be inadequate. There was a ceasefire on the demand of Pakistan on 10 May, but by that time India had completely dominated the airspace.
