What did PM Modi say?
The Prime Minister said, “Mission Drishti of Galaxy is a major achievement in our space journey. The successful launch of the world’s first Aptosar satellite and the largest private satellite built in India is a testament to the passion of our youth towards innovation and nation building.” This satellite was launched from California on Sunday by SpaceX’s Falcon-9 rocket.
what is optosar technology
Conventional satellites typically rely on one of two main methods to photograph the Earth from space. Optical cameras work like normal digital cameras capturing color, texture, and detail in clear and easy-to-understand images. However, they fail when it is cloudy, smoky or dark at night.
Whereas synthetic aperture radar satellites send radar signals, which bounce back after hitting the ground. They can see in clouds, rain and darkness and work day and night. But black-and-white radar images can look strange and are difficult for most people to understand without help. OptoSAR combines both technologies on a single satellite.
