He had left his seat to grab a drink during a break in play, only to run into a female bouncer who reportedly started an argument for no reason. Feeling threatened by how aggressively she was behaving, Gautam pulled out his phone to record the interaction for his own protection.
This move led to a violent reaction from the staff member, who allegedly lunged at him and grabbed the phone out of his hands. The bouncer then ran out of the stadium gates with the phone, leaving the confused fan without any help from nearby security.
Gautam claims the employee kept his phone for over thirty minutes, trying to get past his lock screen to delete the video of her behaviour. He has since accused the venue management of negligence and reported the individual for theft, assault, and property damage.
Incidents like this really hurt the IPL’s reputation, as fans expect to be safe when they’re paying premium prices for tickets. While the league promises world-class entertainment, this specific SRH vs PBKS match showed how quickly security failures can ruin the experience for fans.
Security personnel are deployed to PROTECT fans but not assault, rob and silence them. I demand:
