An operation that changed the face of war: Operation Sindoor and the technical differences between the two armies

On the night of 7 May 2025, India completed a military operation in just 23 minutes which changed the strategic thinking of the entire region. Indian Air Force carried out very precise attacks on 9 terrorist targets located in Pakistan and PoK. Modern missiles, satellite-guided weapons and drones were used in these attacks. The most important thing was that India successfully completed the mission by neutralizing Pakistan’s Chinese technology air defense system.

Within two days the satellite pictures became available to the world. Pictures released by companies like Maxar, KawaSpace and MizarVision clearly showed which targets were targeted and how much damage was caused. The hangar of Shahbaz airbase appeared completely destroyed, while the runways and radar systems of many airbases were also found damaged. These pictures gave strong evidence to India’s claims.

The difference was not just in attack, but in thinking.

India presented the proof of its every attack in front of the world. This was the biggest difference. In modern war, it is not enough to just attack, it is also necessary that the world can see who was attacked and why.

On the other hand, Pakistan’s reaction was different. There was heavy shelling from across the border, affecting temples, gurudwaras and civilian areas. Civilians were targeted in Poonch, Rajouri and many areas of Kashmir. Many people lost their lives and houses were destroyed. These attacks did not appear to have any clear military target.

From here the difference in military capability and technical thinking of the two countries became clear.

India’s war model was completely technology based

Many agencies of India worked together before the operation. Targets were set by combining satellite surveillance, drone surveillance, intercepted communications and real-time intelligence. Every information was reaching directly to the commanders of the Army and Air Force.

This was not just traditional military action, but the combined use of modern technology and intelligence. India did not react emotionally, but took action based on data and accurate information.

Strength of indigenous defense technology

Many weapons and drones used in Operation Sindoor were made in India or developed in collaboration with India. Systems like BrahMos, Akash Air Defense System, Skystriker and Nagastra became examples of India’s growing defense self-reliance.

The successful use of these weapons is not only a military achievement but also a major success for the Indian defense industry. This will increase both research and investment in the coming time.

In contrast, Pakistan’s defense infrastructure is largely dependent on foreign weapons. In such a situation, it is not easy to compensate for any big loss.

Satellite images changed the game of propaganda

Pakistan claimed that India attacked civilian areas, but satellite images undermined these claims. In the modern era, truth cannot be changed merely by making statements. Within a few hours, satellite images reveal the real situation to the whole world.

This is the greatest strength of modern technology – transparency.

Impact on nuclear weapons strategy

For many years, Pakistan’s strategy was that India would not take major military steps due to the fear of nuclear weapons. But Operation Sindoor changed this perception.

India demonstrated that limited, precise and controlled military action was possible without escalating to a major war. India targeted only the terrorist infrastructure and not the Pakistani army or civilians.

Due to this, Pakistan’s old strategic advantage appeared to be weakening.

New era of drone war

This was the first time that drones were used on such a large scale between two nuclear-armed countries. India used precision-targeting drones, while Pakistan tried to create pressure by sending a large number of drones.

India’s air defense system stopped most of the drones in their tracks. This made it clear that in future wars, not only the number of weapons, but their quality and technical capability will matter more.

New message of changing war

Operation Sindoor proved that in the times to come, wars will not be decided by force alone, but by technology, accuracy and accountability. India showed the world that in modern warfare, transparency is as important as military capability.

Satellites are constantly watching, technology is recording everything and now it is no longer easy to hide the truth for long.
