West Bengal Governor Dissolves Legislative Assembly: West Bengal Assembly dissolved, Governor issued order, paving the way for formation of BJP government.

New Delhi. West Bengal Governor R. N. Ravi has dissolved the state assembly. After the order issued by the Governor in this regard, Mamata Banerjee will naturally no longer be the Chief Minister of West Bengal. In view of the attitude of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee who was adamant in not resigning despite the defeat in the assembly elections, the Governor has issued an order to dissolve the West Bengal Assembly from May 7, 2026. The Governor has taken this step using the powers given under sub-clause (b) of clause (2) of Article 174 of the Constitution.

With this order of the Governor, the way has been cleared for the formation of a new government in the state. Let us tell you that this time the people of Bengal have given victory to BJP with two-third majority in the assembly elections. BJP has won 207 out of 293 assembly seats. Whereas TMC could win only 80 seats. In this way, Mamata Banerjee’s 15-year rule is now coming to an end and BJP government is going to be formed for the first time in the state. Tomorrow i.e. Friday there will be a meeting of the BJP Legislative Party in which the name of the Chief Minister will be approved. The BJP parliamentary party has appointed Union Home Minister Amit Shah as the central observer and Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi as the central co-observer.

It is noteworthy that Shubhendu Adhikari has defeated Mamata Banerjee from Bhawanipur seat by more than 15 thousand votes. This is Mamata Banerjee’s second consecutive defeat in front of Subhendu Adhikari. Earlier in the last assembly elections, Shubhendu had defeated Mamata from Nandigram.
