Player who played cricket with Virat-Yuvraj passes away, breathed his last at the age of 36
Amanpreet Singh Gill was among the players who represented Punjab in domestic cricket and also played for India at youth level. He had also played in the Under-19 team with star batsman Virat Kohli. Both of them had shared the dressing room together during their junior cricket days.

Amanpreet played 6 first class matches for Punjab between 2006 and 2008. During this period he took 11 wickets. He was a medium pace bowler and was known for his disciplined bowling. Apart from domestic cricket, he was also a part of the Kings XI Punjab team in the first season of IPL, which is now known as Punjab Kings.
Virat Kohli also expressed grief over the demise of his old teammate. He wrote, ‘I am shocked and saddened to hear the news of Amanpreet Gill’s demise. Sending prayers and courage to his family and loved ones. May his soul rest in peace. Om Shanti.’

Even after his retirement from cricket, Amanpreet remained associated with Punjab cricket. He had also been a member of the Senior Selection Committee of Punjab and was contributing in promoting young players.
Punjab Cricket Association expressed condolences on his death on social media. PCA said in its statement that with the demise of Amanpreet Singh Gill, the cricket world has lost a dedicated player. The organization expressed condolences to his family and close ones.
Former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj also paid tribute to Amanpreet. Yuvraj wrote on social media that in the initial days he had shared the dressing room with Amanpreet. He was a hard-working cricketer with a calm nature and loved the game very much.
Amanpreet also toured England, Malaysia and Sri Lanka with the India Under-19 team in 2007. He also played several Youth ODIs and one three-day Youth Test match. However, he could not make it to the Indian team that won the Under-19 World Cup in 2008 under the captaincy of Virat Kohli. His demise has come as a big blow to Punjab cricket and the cricket world is remembering him as a hardworking and dedicated player.
