New Railway Projects: Railway network to expand by 901 km by 2030; Center approves 3 railway projects worth 23,437 crores

Indian Railway Projects: The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved three projects of the Ministry of Railways worth around Rs 23,437 crore. This initiative will not only strengthen the country’s infrastructure, but also increase the speed of economic development. 19 districts in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana will benefit from this railway project. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has informed on his social media ‘X’ that this project will make the communication system more efficient and it will also make it easier to reach major tourist destinations across the country.

The total estimated cost of these three major ‘multi-tracking’ projects sanctioned by the Central Government is about Rs. Under this plan, the network of Indian Railways will be expanded by about 901 km.
Benefiting over 4,000 villages
These railway projects will be spread across 19 districts in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. As a result, around 83 lakh citizens in more than 4,000 villages will benefit from this improved connectivity system. These schemes have been prepared under ‘PM Gati Shakti National Maha Yojana’; The objective of this scheme is to strengthen multi-modal communication system and logistics infrastructure. This initiative will make the movement of people, goods and services more seamless and easier.

Delays of trains will be avoided
These three important projects include Nagda-Mathura (Third and Fourth Route), Guntakal-Wadi (Third and Fourth Route) and Burhwal Sitapur (Third and Fourth Route). The railways claimed that these additional routes would improve train traffic, reduce train delays and make rail services more reliable.
