Importance of meditation during pregnancy: Increase time in every trimester, benefit to both mother and baby!

The time of Mother’s Day (10 May) and World Yoga Day is near. In such a situation, the Ministry of AYUSH of the Government of India is running a special awareness campaign regarding the health of pregnant women. The Ministry made an important post on social media giving information about the benefits of meditation during pregnancy.
Meditation is the process of calming and concentrating the mind. In this, one can control one’s thoughts and live completely in the present moment. This practice, done by focusing on the breath or sitting peacefully, reduces stress, increases peace of mind and develops self-awareness. According to the Ministry of AYUSH, maintaining peace of mind is as important as physical care during pregnancy. Regular practice of meditation helps pregnant women feel calm and composed, reduce stress, and create a deeper emotional connection with themselves and their baby.

The ministry said that practicing meditation at every stage of pregnancy helps women maintain emotional balance and improve health. This makes the entire pregnancy journey more peaceful, stable and positive. Experts also tell the time of meditation for pregnant women according to the trimester.

First quarter:- 5 minutes
Second quarter:- 10 minutes
Third quarter:- 15 minutes

The ministry has appealed that every pregnant woman should make meditation a part of her daily routine. A mother with a calm and balanced mind lays the foundation for giving birth to a healthy and peaceful child. Yoga is the physical and mental strength of the pregnant mother. It is also the first step towards a healthier and more conscious start.

However, some caution should also be taken while meditating. For the practice, sit in a straight but comfortable posture, do not strain your back. Keep an empty or light stomach and choose a cool and airy place.

During practice, allow the breath to flow naturally, do not fight your thoughts. Consult a doctor during exercise during pregnancy or any illness. Be patient and do not try to calm your mind forcefully.
