Earlier money was spent on appeasement and occupation: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath!
He said that Saharanpur, which was once infamous due to riots, fatwas and migration, has today become a new identity of development, connectivity and industrial progress. From the revival of Maa Shakambhari Dham to the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, Ganga Expressway, proposed airport, sports college, smart city projects and industrial-logistics hub, a new stream of development is flowing in Saharanpur.
CM Yogi was addressing the foundation stone laying/inauguration ceremony of 325 development projects worth Rs 2,131 crore in Saharanpur on Thursday.
The Chief Minister said that the policies of the double engine government have changed both the picture and destiny of Western Uttar Pradesh. Earlier it used to take 6 hours to reach Delhi from Saharanpur and 12-14 hours to reach Lucknow, but now due to expressway and modern connectivity, Delhi is only two and a half hours away and Lucknow is about 6 hours away.
He said that the elements which become obstacles in development try to divide the society through caste and appeasement politics, but now the public stands with development, security and nationalism. If good governments are elected then good results also come and Saharanpur has emerged as a living example of this.
CM Yogi said that Saharanpur is the same district where there was an atmosphere of riots, curfew, migration and anarchy from 2013 to 2016. There was no major center of education, sports and industry. Farmers were troubled, youth were migrating and businessmen were living in fear. Deoband had become infamous due to fatwas and bad culture.
Referring to the 2016 anti-Sikh riots and Muzaffarnagar-Shamli violence, the Chief Minister said that at that time the entire western Uttar Pradesh was burning, but there was no one to listen. Saharanpur acquired a new identity after the formation of the double engine government in 2017. The world class wood art here got a new platform and today Saharanpur has created a unique identity on its own.
He said that today Saharanpur is fast becoming a major center of development and connectivity. On April 14, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Delhi-Baghpat-Shamli-Saharanpur-Dehradun six-lane expressway, giving a new dimension to connectivity.
He further said that Maa Shakambhari University is going to be established in Saharanpur, the work of the airport is in the final stages and a sports college is being built in Behat. Work is being done rapidly on modern bus station, RCC drain and better road network.
The Chief Minister said that healthy competition for development is going on in the districts of Western Uttar Pradesh, Saharanpur, Bijnor, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Meerut, Bulandshahr and Baghpat. There is no alternative to development, but some elements try to divide the society through caste and appeasement politics.
CM Yogi said that earlier fatwas were issued from Deoband on every small and big issue. How to eat food was also decided by Deoband, but people like Kunwar Brijesh Singh said that the freedom of an individual should not be hindered and the security of the country should not be compromised. On his proposal, we immediately established an ATS (Anti-Terrorist Squad) center here.
He further said that we are grateful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Insulting Vande Mataram has been placed in the category of cognizable offence. Now if anyone insults the symbols of India, he will be punished. It is not possible to live in India, eat Indian food and sing enemy songs. This country cannot accept this. We have to be alert against those who harm national property and indulge in appeasement politics.
The Chief Minister said that the progress you are seeing is the result of the speed of the double engine government. Behind this progress is the tireless efforts of our public representatives. Today, the foundation stone of 325 development projects worth Rs 2,131 crore is being laid and inaugurated here. These include inauguration of 184 projects (Rs 500 crore) and foundation stone laying of 141 projects (Rs 1,631 crore).
On this occasion, Minister in-charge of Saharanpur Sunil Kumar Sharma, Minister of State for Public Works Department Kunwar Brijesh Singh, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Industrial Development Department Jaswant Saini, MLAs Rajeev Gumber, Mukesh Chaudhary, Kirat Singh, Devendra Nim, Vandana Verma, Dinesh Goyal, Mayor Dr. Ajay Kumar, District Panchayat President Mangeram Chaudhary, Bharatiya Janata Party Regional President Satyendra Sisodia, BJP District President Ajit Singh Rana, Metropolitan President Sheetal Bishnoi, district in-charge D.K.
