Volcano erupts in Indonesia: Ash rises up to 10 KM, 3 climbers die; watch video

Indonesia Mount Dukono Volcano Eruption: A massive explosion occurred at Mount Dukono volcano on Indonesia’s Hamahera Island at around 7:41 am on Friday morning. Due to which a cloud of ash reached a height of 10 kilometers in the sky. Due to this sudden disaster, three people have died and there is panic in the area. After which the administration immediately started relief and rescue operations.

Singapore citizens died in the accident

According to local officials and the police chief, so far three climbers have been confirmed dead in this tragic incident. Two of these people are Singapore citizens while one is a local resident of Eastern India. Indonesia Was a resident of the island of Ternate. The sad thing is that about 10 to 20 climbers are still trapped on the hill, rescue teams are continuously working hard to rescue them. Many of the stranded people are said to be Singapore citizens.

Administration’s warning ignored?

Investigation has revealed that Volcano In view of the increasing activities, scientists had closed this entire area for tourists from 17th April. The Center for Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation (PVMBG) had given clear instructions that no person should come within a radius of 4 kilometers of the crater of the volcano. An alert in this regard was issued in December itself. Despite this, a group of climbers was present in this restricted area.

Mount Dukono has been continuously active since 1933.

Mount Dukono is considered one of the most dangerous and active volcanoes in Indonesia. According to records, it has been erupting continuously since the year 1933. It often spews poisonous clouds of sulfur dioxide and ash. Although this area is far away from the main travel routes, adventure trekking lovers often reach here. Earlier also there had been an explosion on April 6 but there was no news of any casualty at that time.

Area on high alert

Mount Dukono is currently placed at the third-highest alert level in Indonesia’s 4-level warning system. It is a matter of relief that despite the release of such a huge amount of ash, there has been no significant impact on airlines and flights so far. The administration is now rapidly engaged in rescue operations so that the trapped people can be rescued safely and the loss of life and property can be reduced.
