Phu Quoc builds appeal through accessibility and integrated tourism model

One of the island’s distinguishing features is its visa policy. Phu Quoc is the only destination in Vietnam offering a 30-day visa exemption for international visitors arriving directly on the island. Compared with destinations such as Bali, where travelers still require a visa-on-arrival or e-visa process, the policy reduces administrative procedures for international tourists.

The visa exemption has contributed to Phu Quoc’s growing reputation as an accessible tropical destination in Asia, particularly for travelers seeking shorter or last-minute trips.

Since April 17, Sun PhuQuoc Airways has offered hotel check-in services at several Sun Group properties in South Phu Quoc, including La Festa Phu Quoc, Curio Collection by Hilton and New World Phu Quoc Resort.

The service allows passengers to check in, receive boarding passes, and drop off luggage directly at participating hotels before heading to the airport. According to the operator, baggage is transferred separately and processed under aviation security regulations.

Hotel check-in is currently available from 7:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. for flights departing between 10:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., and from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for flights departing from 4:00 p.m.

Phu Quoc has also expanded its nighttime tourism offerings. At Sunset Town, visitors can watch two nightly fireworks displays throughout the year, making evening entertainment a central part of the tourism experience such as Kiss of the Sea, Symphony of the Sea…

South Phu Quoc is also home to three attractions associated with Guinness World Records, all located in the south.

The itinerary often begins with the Hon Thom Cable Car, recognized as the world’s longest three-wire – cable car. The nearly 8-kilometer route connects Sunset Town with Hon Thom Island and offers panoramic views of the surrounding coastline.

In Sunset Town, visitors can also access Sun Bavaria GastroPub, recognized as The largest beachfront beer hall in the world. The venue hosts Symphony of the Sea, a live show combining music, lighting effects, fireworks, and water sports performances.

Nearby, Kiss of the Sea Theater has been recognized as the largest permanent water projection theater.

Industry observers note that Phu Quoc is increasingly developing through an integrated tourism model.

Unlike destinations where attractions are spread across large geographic areas or experiences are limited to individual resorts, tourism services in South Phu Quoc are being designed as interconnected components within a larger ecosystem.

This flow of experience starts with flights by Sun PhuQuoc Airways, landing and connecting guests directly to the entertainment heart of South Island, staying within Sun Group’s resort system with world-class accommodations, enjoying world-class show along with various incentives for other services within the ecosystem.

According to developers, future plans also include expanded healthcare support services for tourists.

The approach reflects a broader strategy aimed at reducing travel friction while extending visitor engagement throughout the trip.
