8th Pay Commission: Salary can increase by this much from Level-1 to Level-18
New Delhi. Discussions have intensified regarding the 8th Pay Commission for central employees. During the important meeting held in New Delhi, employee organizations have put forward the demand for major changes in the wage structure before the government. The biggest discussion is regarding the fitment factor, which has been demanded to be increased to 3.83. If this demand is accepted, then there may be a big jump in the basic salary of the employees. This will also have a direct impact on pensions and allowances.
What is fitment factor?
Fitment factor is the formula on the basis of which the new basic salary of the employees is decided. Fitment factor of 2.57 was implemented in the 7th Pay Commission. Now employee organizations are demanding to increase it to 3.83. He says that in view of rising inflation, urban expenditure and cost of living, the current salary structure is no longer adequate.
Big jump possible in minimum basic salary
If 3.83 fitment factor is applied, then the current minimum basic pay of Rs 18,000 can increase to around Rs 68,940. This is the reason why a lot of enthusiasm is being seen regarding this among central employees and pensioners.
Possible new salary from level-1 to level-18
Level-1: Increase from Rs 18,000 to around Rs 69,000
Level-2: Increase from Rs 19,900 to around Rs 76,000
Level-3: Increase from Rs 21,700 to around Rs 83,000
Level-4: Increase from Rs 25,500 to around Rs 97,000
Level-5: Increase from Rs 29,200 to approximately Rs 1.11 lakh
Level-6: Increase from Rs 35,400 to approximately Rs 1.35 lakh
Level-7: Increase from Rs 44,900 to approximately Rs 1.72 lakh
Level-8: Increase from Rs 47,600 to approximately Rs 1.82 lakh
Level-9: Increase from Rs 53,100 to approximately Rs 2.03 lakh
Level-13: Increase from Rs 1.23 lakh to approximately Rs 4.71 lakh
Level-14: Increase from Rs 1.44 lakh to approximately Rs 5.52 lakh
Level-15: Increase from Rs 1.82 lakh to approximately Rs 6.97 lakh
Level-18: Increase from Rs 2.50 lakh to approximately Rs 9.57 lakh

However, it is important to keep in mind that at present this is only the demand and estimated calculation of employee organizations. The government has not taken any final decision yet. The Pay Commission will have to give its recommendations after studying various aspects like economic situation, government expenditure and financial pressure.
