Finn Allen’s sensational hundred leads KKR to an 8-wicket win over DC
Kolkata Knight Riders opener Finn Allen finally found his form in the Indian Premier League 2026 as the right-handed batter scored an unbeaten hundred against the Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Kolkata were chasing just 143, and Allen made it look easy after settling down in the middle.
The three-time champions were on the back foot after losing captain Ajinkya Rahane (13) to an unfortunate run-out. When Axar Patel undid Angkrish Raghuvanshi (1), the Capitals had their tails up. However, they didn’t get another chance to celebrate as the New Zealand batter and all-rounder Cameron Green added 116 runs for the third wicket to take the visiting team home in 14.2 overs with 8 wickets in hand.
Allen amassed 100 not out in 47 deliveries, including 10 sixes and 5 boundaries. His runs came at a strike rate of 212.76. Green managed 33 not out in 27 deliveries, with the help of 2 sixes.
It was Kolkata’s fourth consecutive win, taking their points tally to 9 from 10 matches. On the other hand, Delhi are eighth with 8 points from 11 contests and have been eliminated from the playoff race.
Earlier, KKR skipper Rahane won the toss and invited DC to bat first on a pitch that had something for the spinners.
KL Rahul and Pathum Nissanka stitched a 49-run partnership for the first wicket, but after the former’s departure, the remaining batters failed to get going.
Nissanka accumulated 50 runs in 29 deliveries, packed with 5 fours and 3 sixes. Rahul posted 14-ball 23.
There were no meaningful contributions from Nitish Rana (8), Sameer Rizvi (3), Axar (11), and Tristan Stubbs (2) in the DC vs KKR match.
Delhi would have been dismissed below the 120-run mark had Ashutosh Sharma not scored 39 runs in 28 deliveries. He smashed 3 fours and as many sixes.
For KKR, Kartik Tyagi and Anukul Roy took two wickets. Vaibhav Arora, Sunil Narine, and Green claimed one scalp each to their bowling figures. Although Varun Chakravarthy didn’t pick up a wicket, he conceded just 28 runs from his four overs. It was Kolkata’s spinners who choked the DC willow holders in the IPL 2026 match.
