NADA sent notice to Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shefali Verma, both players came under investigation
New Delhi: Two star players of Indian cricket, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shefali Verma, are in trouble. The National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) has issued notices to both. A case of ‘whereabouts failure’ has been registered against both of them. This is considered a violation of anti-doping rules.
What is wearabouts failure?
According to NADA rules, players included in the Registered Testing Pool (RTP) have to inform in advance about their location and availability. So that doping officials can test without informing. Both Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shefali Verma are included in this pool.
When and what happened?
According to sources, Yashasvi Jaiswal’s dope test was scheduled on December 17, but when the officials arrived, he was not present. Similarly, Shefali Verma’s test was scheduled for 7th November, in which she could not attend.
NADA sent a clarification notice to both of them in February. Yashasvi was asked to answer on February 18 and Shefali on February 20, but after no response from both, NADA has registered their first ‘missed test’. BCCI has also been informed about this.
Both players presented their side
This is not being considered a direct doping violation right now. According to the rules, if a player breaks such a rule three times in 12 months, he can face a ban of up to two years. At present, both the players will get full opportunity to present their side.
Yashasvi Jaiswal is currently playing for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2026 and is performing well. Shefali Verma recently played an important role in India’s victory in the Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 and also played on the South Africa tour. Both are considered to be the bright future of Indian cricket. This case has started a new debate regarding compliance with anti-doping rules.
NADA’s stance
NADA has made it clear that this is the first violation. Both players can solve the matter by giving answers. Cricket lovers are hoping that this matter will be resolved soon and both the players will return to the field without any major loss.
