Cubs Continue Historic Winning Run

Chicago Cubs are making history once again after securing their second 10-game winning streak of the season with a 7-1 victory over the Texas Rangers on Friday night.

The achievement marks the first time since 1935 that the Cubs have recorded two separate 10-game winning streaks within the same season.

Chicago improved to a major league-best 27-12 record and has now won 20 of its last 23 games.

Manager Craig Counsell acknowledged the rarity of the accomplishment.

“That means you’re doing something that’s pretty rare, and I think we realize that,” Counsell said.

The Cubs’ latest streak further strengthens their early-season position as one of baseball’s most dominant teams.

Balanced Offense Powers Chicago Victory

Friday’s win featured another strong all-around offensive performance from Chicago’s lineup.

Ian Happ extended his on-base streak to 29 consecutive games, continuing to provide consistency near the top of the batting order.

Meanwhile, Michael Busch delivered one of the game’s biggest moments with a three-run double that helped break the game open.

The Cubs have consistently generated offense throughout their recent hot streak by combining patience at the plate, situational hitting and aggressive pressure on opposing pitching staffs.

Counsell emphasized the team’s focus on simplifying its approach during the remarkable stretch.

“If you break it to small things, it’s just come and play a good game today, and we played a really good game today,” Counsell said. “It’s been the recipe for a lot of wins.”

Historic Pace Draws Comparisons To Baseball Greats

Chicago’s accomplishment places this year’s team among some of the most memorable clubs in baseball history.

According to Sportradar, the last major league team to post two 10-game winning streaks within the first 39 games of a season was the 1955 Brooklyn Dodgers.

The Cubs themselves last achieved the feat in 1935, when Hall of Fame catcher Gabby Hartnett won National League MVP honors and Chicago captured 100 victories.

The only Cubs team to reach 100 wins since then came during the franchise’s memorable 2016 World Series championship season.

Second baseman Nico Hoerner reflected on how unusual the streaks are in modern baseball.

“Baseball is a game of a ridiculous amount of stats and things to look up, so anytime you have to go that far back, it is obviously a good sign,” Hoerner said.

“We’re just going to keep it rolling.”

Hoerner also reacted to the speed with which Chicago achieved both streaks.

“That’s a crazy sentence,” he said.

Pitching Staff Continues Delivering Strong Results

The Cubs’ pitching staff once again played a major role in Friday’s victory.

Ben Brown threw four hitless innings in his first start of the season after previously making 12 relief appearances.

Brown praised the collective effort throughout the organization while discussing the team’s success.

“Two double-digit winning streaks in a season, that sounds pretty wild to me,” Brown said.

“That is some goosebumps to think about how talented this team is. It’s special to be a part of, it’s special to witness, it’s special to watch.”

Chicago’s pitching depth has become one of the club’s biggest strengths during its dominant start to the season, complementing a lineup that continues to produce consistently.

Cubs Emerging As Serious National League Contender

The Cubs’ sustained success is beginning to establish them as a legitimate contender in the National League.

Last season, the Milwaukee Brewers captured the NL Central title after posting two separate 10-game winning streaks of their own.

Now Chicago appears poised to challenge for division supremacy while building momentum remarkably early in the year.

The combination of balanced offense, strong pitching and clubhouse confidence has fueled one of baseball’s best starts through the opening weeks of the season.

If the Cubs maintain their current pace, this team could eventually be remembered alongside some of the franchise’s greatest squads.
