‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ cast breaks silence on possible sequel
According to the report of ‘People’ magazine, 76-year-old Meryl Streep said that the script has to be perfect for the franchise to return for the third part.
“A good script. It’s all about the script,” said Emily Blunt, 43.
“And then, everybody has to say yes,” Anne Hathaway tells People. “It has to be the main four (the three actresses and returning cast member Stanley Tucci, who is married to Emily Blunt’s sister, Felicity Blunt),” Emily Blunt said.
The new film sees Meryl Streep returning to the role of famed editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly, and reteaming with Anne Hathaway’s Andy Sachs, who is now Runway’s new features editor. Together, the two must try to woo Priestley’s former assistant Emily Charlton (Emily Blunt), now running Dior’s US operations, for the ad money.
According to ‘People’, all three actresses thought about revisiting their characters after so many years.
Anne Hathaway said, “The thing that really stuck with me was that when we made the first movie, I was just this crazy 22-year-old girl. I mean, I’m in a very different phase of my life. I’m really, really lucky. I found someone I love very much (husband Adam Shulman). We’ve been married for 17 years. We have two kids. I just feel like my Life is in a much fuller and better place now. When I was 22, I felt very lost, which was really true to the character.”
For Meryl Streep, the experience was “pretty easy.” “I love that you keep these characters alive. I loved reinventing (Miranda),” he said.
Emily Blunt said, “You kind of become immersed in the person you’re playing. Listen, I love playing this crazy person. I had so much fun being back in his shoes.”
‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ is playing in theaters now.
