New Bengal BJP’s rule started with Shubhendu’s swearing in and big appointments
West bengal: A historic turning point has come in the politics of West Bengal. For the first time in the history of the state, the Bharatiya Janata Party government has been formed. On Saturday, Subhendu Adhikari took oath as the Chief Minister and took command of power. Immediately after this grand ceremony organized at the historic Brigade Ground in Kolkata, the new government was seen in action mode and a period of major changes in the administration has started.
Administrative reshuffle and new appointments
Within a few hours of taking oath as the Chief Minister, important appointments have been made in the CM office. According to the official information released by the government, IAS officer Shantanu Bala has been appointed Private Secretary to the Chief Minister. Shantanu was earlier serving as ADM in South 24 Parganas. At the same time, retired IAS officer Subrata Gupta has been made the advisor to the Chief Minister. The special thing is that Subrata Gupta played an important responsibility as a special observer during the elections.
West bengal: Cabinet expansion and swearing in
Along with Chief Minister Shubhendu Adhikari, five more faces of his team also took oath as ministers. Prominent names included in the cabinet include Dilip Ghosh, Agnimitra Paul and Nisith Pramanik. As soon as the process of formation of the new government was completed, an atmosphere of celebration was seen among BJP workers and supporters across the state.
Election results and historic victory
West bengal: This time in the assembly elections, BJP performed unilaterally and captured 207 out of 294 seats. This victory is also big for the party because it has got about 45 percent votes. On the other hand, Mamata Banerjee’s TMC, which has been in power for the last 15 years, has suffered a major setback and is reduced to just 80 seats. Mamata Banerjee herself lost to Shubhendu Adhikari in Bhawanipur seat by more than 15 thousand votes.
