FPI Sell-Off Continues: Rs 9,772 crore flight from the capital market in the first week of May itself

Mumbai: Foreign institutional investors (FPIs) have made a net withdrawal of Rs 9,772 crore from the Indian capital market in the first trading week of May. Earlier in April and March also, FPIs were net sellers, that is, they had withdrawn more money than they had invested.

According to Central Depository Service data, FPIs have made a net sale of Rs 14,231 crore in equities so far in May. His investment in hybrid instruments has also been negative while he has invested money in debt and mutual funds. FPI’s net investment in debt has increased by Rs 4,384 crore this month. He invested Rs 187.72 crore in mutual funds. He withdrew Rs 112.28 crore from hybrid instruments. This is the third consecutive month when FPIs remain sellers in the Indian capital market.

In March this year, he had made a record sale of Rs 1,26,991 crore. In April also he had withdrawn Rs 70,786 crore. So far this year, FPIs have withdrawn a net Rs 1,98,773 crore from the Indian capital market.
