There was illegal felling of teak trees in Marha-Karchaulia, no action was taken even after 10 days.

Settlement. A large number of teak trees were cut 10 days ago between Gram Panchayat Marha-Karchaulia under Basti Sadar Forest Range Basti Sadar, but due to the connivance of Halka Forest Inspector and outpost in-charge Futhiya, the action has come to a complete halt. There was massive felling of teak trees in Marha-Karchaulia without permit. Forest Department Basti Sadar was informed about illegal cutting of trees. Halka Forest Inspector Abhilash of Forest Range Basti Sadar has played a big game in the name of investigation and action. According to sources, at the time of illegal felling in Marha-Futhiya, the outpost in-charge had reached the Futhiya spot but after making a transaction with the wood contractor, the outpost in-charge had covered up the matter. That is, even after 10 days, neither the forest department nor the city police has taken action.

Halka Forest Inspector Abhilash has already done whitewash in the name of investigation in the case of felling of green trees, in the same manner efforts are on to end the case by filing a reverse report in Marha Karchaulia village. The big question is that when there is collusion between the forest department and the police, how will the cutting of green trees be stopped?

Teak is a restricted species of tree. There is a provision of fine of ₹ 10 thousand per tree and jail for felling without permit. The large number of deforestation means loss worth lakhs to the government treasury.

Now it remains to be seen what action is taken by the dynamic DFO against Halka Forest Inspector Abhilash, who was negligent in the matter of large-scale cutting of green teak trees in Marha Karchaulia.
