Jewar or Delhi Airport: Where will air travel be cheaper? –
Knews Desk- For the travelers of Noida and Delhi-NCR, the coming time has brought a new debate regarding the cost of air travel. The much-awaited Noida International Airport (Jewar Airport) is going to open soon, but there is increased concern among airlines and passengers regarding its fee structure.
Fear of expensive flight from Delhi
According to reports, the parking and user development fee (UDF) proposed at Jewar airport is much higher than that of Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. Airlines companies say that if the same structure remains in force, the operating expenses of flights will increase, which will have a direct impact on ticket prices.
Big difference between parking and UDF
According to the information, the parking fees of aircraft like Airbus A-321 at Jewar Airport is said to be almost double as compared to Delhi. At the same time, user development fees for domestic flights can also be many times higher than in Delhi. According to experts, increasing fees will put additional burden on airlines and will impact the pockets of common passengers.
Airlines’ objection
Major airline IndiGo has written a letter to the Airport Economic Regulatory Authority expressing concern over this fee structure. The company says that such a high fee in the initial phase can be challenging for both passengers and airlines.
Connectivity is the biggest challenge
At present, public transport and connectivity to reach Jewar Airport is not fully developed. The work of metro, rapid rail and bus services is still under construction. In contrast, Delhi Airport is already connected to a strong metro and road network.
Flights start from June 15
According to the airport management, domestic flights will be started from June 15. In the initial phase, flights can start to cities like Bengaluru, Mumbai, Lucknow and Hyderabad. Passengers will have to wait for a few months for international flights.
options for passengers
Experts believe that if flights from Jewar airport become costlier than Delhi, passengers may again prefer Delhi airport. Especially those who value better connectivity and lower fares.
Jewar airport is being seen as a major air hub for NCR, but high charges and lack of connectivity in the initial stage may affect its competitiveness. In the coming times, it will be important to see whether this airport can provide a cheap and convenient option to the passengers or not.
