That unheard story of the song ‘Tadap Tadap…’: Pain in KK’s voice at 4 in the morning, Salman Khan’s emotional scene became immortal
New Delhi. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999) is one of those Bollywood movies, whose story and music remain alive in the hearts of the audience even today. While the love story of Salman Khan, Aishwarya Rai and Ajay Devgn in this film made people emotional, its songs took the film to an entirely new level.
The most painful and iconic song of this film, Tadap Tadap Ke Iss Dil Se, when played even today, shakes the emotions. Famous singer KK lent his voice to this song, but an incident related to its recording makes it even more special.
It is said that the recording of this song started late at night and about 50% of it was completed, when suddenly there was a short circuit in the studio, due to which the recording had to be stopped. At that time, Singer KK was forced to take a break and came out of the studio to rest.
Due to fatigue, KK slept there for some time and woke up around 4 in the morning. Meanwhile, he drank tea and went to the terrace of the studio. At that time Mumbai was completely quiet, the roads were empty and the atmosphere was very relaxed. This silence and emotional atmosphere gave KK the strength to realize the incomplete part of the song again. He insisted on one more take from music director Ismail Darbar, although Darbar initially refused, but later agreed.
When KK sang on high pitch around 4 in the morning
If I meet God, I will ask God, why did he give me a body and make a heart out of glass. So there was such a sea of pain, breakdown and emotions in that voice which made the song immortal. Salman Khan’s heartbroken emotional acting in the film and this song in the background together touched the hearts of the audience deeply. Even today this song is counted among the most painful and memorable songs of Indian cinema.
