Bettiah 10 May. On May 10, the historical day of rebellion against the British in 1857 and the foundation day of All India Kisan Mahasabha, a march was taken out from the station premises against the anti-farmer actions of the Central and State Government and a meeting was held in front of the Collectorate. Addressing the meeting, District President of All India Kisan Mahasabha, Sunil Kumar Rao said that the governments of Delhi and Patna are so engrossed in corporate affairs that even the cultivable multi-crop land of the farmers is being taken away in violation of the Land Acquisition Act. In the name of expressway/highway, they are giving it to Ambani and Adani. Even proper compensation is not being given. Here in Nautan Bairia, in the name of Gorakhpur-Siliguri Expressway, land is being forcibly acquired despite the protests of the farmers, due to which the houses of hundreds of people, cultivable multi-crop land of thousands of people and business establishments have come under its control. MPs and MLAs are seen standing in favor of companies instead of farmers.
District leader of Kisan Mahasabha, Rikhi Sah said that Paxo has purchased paddy on paper. The rightful owners should not be able to sell their paddy. In such a situation, the Cooperative Department is running away from investigating it. The district officer should investigate this and take legal action. District President of Sugarcane Kisan Mahasabha, Sanjay Yadav said that the farmers have been demanding for a long time to increase the sugarcane price to Rs 600 per quintal, but under the pressure of the sugar cane lobby, the government has increased the price by only Rs 10 per quintal for the next sugarcane crushing season, which is betrayal to the sugarcane farmers. Farmers will not tolerate this. Kisan Mahasabha leader Bharat Sharma said that crops like maize, vegetables, mango etc. have been ruined due to untimely rains. The government should conduct a survey and give compensation of Rs 150,000 (1.5 lakh rupees). Otherwise there will be agitation. Binod Kushwaha of Kisan Mahasabha said that the government should make electricity bills of farmers free for irrigation. Farmer leaders Kishori Sah, Hewanchal Mahato, Lakshman Ram, Achhe Lal Ram, Bharat Sharma, Sujayat Ansari, Dharam Kushwaha, Likhi Sah, etc. were present in the program.
