Enemy trembled with India’s fire power, successful test of Agni-5 equipped with MIRV technology, capable of hitting multiple targets simultaneously.

digital desk- India has touched another historic milestone in the defense sector. The advanced Agni-5 missile was successfully tested on May 8 from Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the coast of Odisha. This test is special because the state-of-the-art MIRV (Multiple Independently Targeted Re-entry Vehicle) technology has been used in it. This success puts India among the few countries in the world that have the firepower to target multiple cities or military bases simultaneously with a single missile.

What is MIRV technology and why is it special?

According to the Defense Ministry, this missile equipped with MIRV technology can carry many different payloads (weapons) in a single launch. During the test, the missile hit targets at different locations in the Indian Ocean region with complete accuracy. Its biggest feature is that multiple strategic targets can be attacked through a single missile system. It was monitored through land and sea based high-tech tracking systems during the entire flight, which confirmed 100 percent success of the mission.

Firepower and indigenous technology of Agni-5

Agni-5 is India’s most powerful intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM). Its strike range is more than 5,000 kilometers, which covers the entire Asia and large parts of Europe. It has a three-stage solid fuel engine, which gives it quick acceleration over long distances. The MIRV system of this missile uses completely indigenous technology, which has been developed by DRDO in collaboration with Indian industries, which is a major step towards ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’.

New milestone in defense preparedness

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated DRDO and the Indian Army on this success. He said that this achievement will make India’s defense preparedness impenetrable amid growing global security threats. Defense experts believe that this missile is capable of carrying 4 to 5 nuclear warheads simultaneously and dropping them on different targets. With this test, India has made its ‘Minimum Credible Deterrence’ policy more effective, thereby raising the wall of the country’s strategic security even higher.
