Who is Urvil Patel: On April 10, a great match was played between Lucknow and CSK at M Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. While batting brilliantly in this match, CSK’s Urvil Patel scored the fastest half-century. While playing for Chennai Super Kings, Urvil completed his fifty with the help of 1 four and 7 sixes in 13 balls against Lucknow Super Giants. But his journey till IPL was not easy.

Born in Mehsana, Gujarat

Urvil was born on 17 October 1998 in Mehsana, Gujarat. The journey of 27 year old Urvil to this point was not at all easy. Urvil, who plays domestic cricket for Gujarat and Baroda, made his IPL debut while playing for Chennai in the last season i.e. 2025. He plays for CSK as a wicketkeeper batsman.

Gujarat bought in 2023

However, earlier in the year 2023, Gujarat had bought Urvil for Rs 20 lakh. But he did not get a chance to play in this team. Urvil was all set to play and showcase his skills but he could not reach the field. This time was not easy for Urvil. But after coming to Chennai, Urvil’s luck changed.

Also sold in 2024

Urvil remained unsold in the 2024 auction, then in May 2025, Chennai made Urvil their share in place of injured Vansh Vedi. Chennai signed Urvil for a price of Rs 30 lakh. In the 2025 season, he made his IPL debut on 7 May playing against Kolkata Knight Riders. In the very first match he scored 31 runs in 11 balls. Scored a T20 century in 28 balls during the 2024-25 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
