CSK beats LSG by five wickets, playoff hopes intact
Chennai. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by five wickets in the 53rd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 on Sunday.
In the match played at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, LSG, batting first, scored 203 runs losing eight wickets in 20 overs. In reply, CSK won the match by scoring 208 runs for five wickets in 19.2 overs.
With this win, Chennai has kept its playoff hopes alive. The team has 12 points with six wins in 11 matches. With this, Chennai has reached fifth position in the points table.
At the same time, Lucknow team is at the bottom 10th position in the points table with this defeat. The team has 6 points in 11 matches. Chennai made a fast start to chase the target of 204 runs. The team scored 97 runs in the powerplay.
During this period the team lost only one wicket. Opener Sanju Samson was batting well, but was bowled in the fourth over. Samson scored 28 runs in 14 balls with the help of three fours and two sixes.
The second wicket of the team fell in the form of Urvil Patel. The young batsman batted brilliantly and scored the joint fastest half-century in IPL history. Urvil completed his half-century in 13 balls. Urvil was out after scoring 65 runs in 23 balls with the help of two fours and eight sixes.
