Bhind Hospital accident: Roof fell on mothers breastfeeding innocent children, screams were heard
Mp news: A heart-wrenching accident took place in Bhind District Hospital of Madhya Pradesh on Sunday, where the old building of the hospital collapsed. The roof and false ceiling of the lactation room of the neonatal intensive care unit (SNCU) ward suddenly collapsed. When this accident happened, seven women in the room were feeding milk to their liver babies. As soon as the debris fell with a loud noise, there was an outcry in the ward and mothers hugged their children to their chests and started running here and there to save their lives. Three women and a newborn child have been injured in this accident, who have been immediately admitted to the Trauma Center.
Two women are in critical condition
Mamta Pawaiya and Sushma Narwariya, who were injured in the accident, have suffered serious injuries and are currently undergoing treatment at the Trauma Centre. Another woman sustained minor injuries and was discharged after first aid. Immediately after the incident, the hospital staff showed proactivity and shifted other newborn children and women present in the ward to another safe ward so that any further untoward incident could be avoided.
Mp news: Administrative officers reached the spot
As soon as the news of the accident was received, Civil Surgeon Dr. R.N. Rajouria and SDM Akhilesh Sharma visited the hospital. The officials inspected the incident site closely and inquired about the well being of the injured women. The SDM said that in view of the dilapidated condition of the ward, strict instructions have been given to the hospital management to immediately strengthen security arrangements and vacate the ward.
Mp news: Patients’ lives in danger due to dilapidated building
It is being told that this building of the district hospital was built before independence and is quite old. Although the administration claims that repair work is done from time to time, the ground reality is that its roofs and walls have now become very weak. Local people allege that there have been incidents of plaster falling in the past too, but the administration never took any concrete steps.
There will be a security check of the entire building
Mp news: SDM Akhilesh Sharma admitted that the hospital building is about 60 to 70 years old, hence now its detailed structural audit will be conducted. The administration has ordered that every part of the hospital be thoroughly inspected and wherever danger is found, repairs should be made immediately or it should be closed. After this accident, other patients admitted to the hospital and their families are worried about their safety.
