Russia said – does not want war with NATO, but ‘nuclear shield’ is a threat to Europe
berlin. Russia has once again clarified that it has no intention of going to war with NATO or Germany, but the growing discussions in Europe on the “Joint Nuclear Security Shield” could change the strategic position of the continent.
Russian Ambassador to Germany Sergei Nechayev made this statement during a discussion program organized in Berlin. Nechayev said that in recent times there have been continuous talks in Europe regarding a common nuclear security arrangement and this is not a simple issue.
According to him, if the nuclear threat expands in Europe, Russia may have to rethink its nuclear policy and security principles.
He said that Russia does not want any kind of war with NATO or Germany, but if an attempt is made to increase military pressure against it, the situation could become serious.
The ambassador alleged that the message is being sent to the common people in Europe that Russia is a big threat and it is necessary to weaken it strategically.
Nechayev said that tensions are increasing due to the continuous supply of weapons, drones and long-range missiles to Ukraine. He said that in such a situation the security system of Europe will not remain the same as before.
Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin also said during the Victory Day parade in Moscow that Russian troops were facing NATO-backed “aggressive forces” in Ukraine. He claimed that despite the support of Western countries, the Russian army is moving ahead in its campaign.
Amidst the increasing tension between Russia and Western countries, the debate regarding security, nuclear policy and military balance in Europe has intensified.
