Vijay’s big action as soon as he became the Chief Minister: Took these three important decisions on the very first day, said – ‘Mama will always support you’
Chennai. Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) founder C Joseph Vijay signaled his government’s priorities by taking several major decisions as soon as he assumed the post of chief minister. Immediately after taking oath, he signed an order to provide 200 units of free electricity to domestic consumers. Along with this, it was also decided to create a special force for the safety of women and an anti-drug unit to stop drug trafficking in the entire state.
In his maiden address at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai, Vijay said that a new regime based on “true secularism and social justice” has now begun in Tamil Nadu. He made it clear that there will be no other center of power in the government apart from him.
Vijay thanked Congress, VCK, IUML and Left parties for their support in government formation. He especially thanked the youth and said that the youth played a big role in the victory of TVK, who also inspired their families to vote in favor of the party.
In his address he said that he does not come from any political or royal family, but the public has accepted him. He assured that he will not make false promises to the public and will work honestly.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also attended the swearing-in ceremony. It is also noteworthy that after almost 60 years, a government from a non-Dravidian party has been formed in Tamil Nadu. A balance of young and experienced leaders has been seen in Vijay’s cabinet, while his close team has also been given a place in the government.
Vijay gave special thanks to the young voters, especially Gen-Ji supporters. He said that this victory was possible because of the small supporters who call him “Vijay Mama” and they will always work for their better future.
Many prominent personalities including his parents, actor Trisha Krishnan were present at the swearing-in ceremony. Governor RV Arlekar administered the oath of office and secrecy to him and his nine ministers. The special thing was that Vijay and his ministers took oath in the name of God.
On this historic occasion, Vijay was seen wearing a white shirt, dark colored pants and blazer instead of the traditional white dress, which is considered a symbol of his new political style.
