Cabinet expansion before UP elections, big message of maintaining social balance!

Before the assembly elections 2027 in Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has tried to give a big political message by expanding the second cabinet of his second term. Governor Anandiben Patel administered the oath of ministerial office and secrecy to eight leaders in the swearing-in ceremony held at Jan Bhawan. In this expansion, BJP has given special focus on solving the social equations of Brahmins, OBCs, Dalits and Western Uttar Pradesh.

Former BJP state president Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary and Unchahar MLA Manoj Kumar Pandey were made cabinet ministers. At the same time, Dr. Somendr Singh Tomar, MLA from Meerut South and Ajit Pal, MLA from Sikandra, were promoted and given the responsibility of Minister of State (Independent Charge).

Apart from this, Krishna Paswan, Kailash Singh Rajput, Surendra Diler and Hansraj Vishwakarma were made ministers of state. The most discussed in the cabinet expansion was about the entry of Bhupendra Singh Choudhary and Manoj Kumar Pandey.

Bhupendra Chaudhary, considered a big face of Jat politics in western Uttar Pradesh, has held the command of the BJP organization for a long time. Coming from a farmer family of Moradabad, Chaudhary started his public life with Vishwa Hindu Parishad and after joining BJP in 1991, he continuously held important responsibilities in the organization.

As state president, he also played an important role in the expansion of the organization. At the same time, Manoj Kumar Pandey, MLA from Unchahar seat of Rae Bareli, is being considered as the new face of BJP’s Brahmin politics. Manoj Kumar Pandey, who was a minister in the Akhilesh Yadav government, had distanced himself from the Samajwadi Party and supported the BJP during the Lok Sabha elections.

Political analysts believe that BJP has given him a big responsibility to make a dent in the Brahmin voters and traditional SP vote bank in Rae Bareli-Amethi belt. The political journey of Dr. Somendr Singh Tomar, who became MLA from Meerut South for the second consecutive time, started from student politics.

Somendra Singh Tomar, who came from ABVP, played an active role in the organization from student union politics to BJP Yuva Morcha. After registering victory in 2017 and 2022, now giving him promotion is being considered as a sign of taking forward the youth leadership of BJP in Western UP.

Sikandra MLA Ajit Pal has also been promoted and made Minister of State (Independent Charge). He has worked as Minister of State in the Department of Science and Technology and Electronics and Information Technology in the Yogi government. To solve the Dalit equation in Western Uttar Pradesh, BJP has included MLA from Khair reserved seat Surendra Diler in the cabinet.

Surendra Diler, who comes from the Jatav community, belongs to a family with political heritage. His grandfather Kishan Lal Diler was an MP and MLA several times, while his father Rajveer Singh Diler was also a BJP MP and MLA.

After the victory in the by-election, BJP has tried to give a big message in Dalit politics by making him a minister. To strengthen the equation of Purvanchal and non-Yadav backward classes, BJP has also given place to Legislative Council member Hansraj Vishwakarma. Hansraj, who has a strong hold in Vishwakarma Samaj, is considered the grassroots leader of the organization and has an active political identity in the Varanasi region.

Krishna Paswan, who was elected MLA from Khaga reserved seat of Fatehpur district for three consecutive times, has also been included in the cabinet. BJP was working on the strategy of promoting her as a Dalit woman face for a long time. At the same time, the party has tried to tap the Lodhi-Rajput vote bank by including MLA Kailash Singh Rajput from Tirwa seat of Kannauj.

Kailash Singh Rajput, a lawyer and farmer by profession, is considered to have a strong social hold in the area. According to political experts, through this expansion, BJP has worked on a comprehensive strategy to reach out to Western Uttar Pradesh, Awadh and Purvanchal as well as Brahmin, Jat, Dalit, Lodhi and non-Yadav OBC classes. This expansion is being seen as BJP’s election preparation before the 2027 assembly elections.
