Honda WN7 Sports Electric Bike: 100Nm Torque, CCS2 Charging & India Launch Details – Breaking News & Live Updates Today

Honda Motor Company has officially filed a patent for the wn7its first high-performance sports electric bike, in India. This move has sparked significant buzz in the Indian two-wheeler market, as the WN7 is the production version of the EV Fun Concept that debuted at EICMA in late 2024.

With its sharp, futuristic lines and “robotic” front end, the WN7 is designed to capture the “Fun” element of motorcycling without the exhaust notes.

design

The WN7 recently won the prestigious iF Gold Design Award 2026. Its silhouette is remarkably slim because it lacks a traditional frame; instead, it uses a monocoque-style subframe where the battery and motor act as structural components.

  • Front End: Features horizontal LED DRLs and compact twin projector headlights.

  • Chassis: A single cover hides both the frame and battery, mimicking the shape of a traditional fuel tank.

  • Premium Touches: Includes a single-sided swingarm on the right, bar-end mirrors, and a 5-inch bonded TFT display to reduce glare.

performance

While its power is comparable to a 600cc petrol bike, its torque is in the league of a 1,000cc machine. The “7” in WN7 refers to Honda’s internal power ranking, positioning it between a CB500 and a CB750 Hornet.

  • Motor: Water-cooled mid-motor with a peak output of 50.4 kW (67.5 bhp) and a massive 100 Nm of torque.

  • Battery: A fixed 9.3 kWh lithium-ion battery.

  • Range: Honda claims a certified range of 140km (WMTC), although real-world highway riding is expected to be closer to 130km.

  • Weight: Despite the heavy battery, it weighs a respectable 217kgoptimized with a low center of gravity.

charging

The WN7 is one of the first electric motorcycles to adopt the CCS2 (Combined Charging System Type 2) fast-charging standard, which is the same plug used by most electric cars.

Tech & Riding Features

  • Riding Modes: Four modes—Sport, Standard, Rain, and Econ.

  • One-Pedal Feel: Features “Selectable Deceleration Power Levels,” allowing you to adjust regenerative braking (0 to 3) for a smoother or more aggressive engine-braking feel.

  • Utility: Includes a Walking Speed Mode (Forward and Reverse) to help park the 217kg bike and an Active Speed Limiter for city safety.

Pros & Cons

Pros Cons

Charging: CCS2 support means you can use car chargers on the highway.Price: At approx. At ₹16.74 lakh (UK Price), it is a luxury proposition.
Design: Award-winning, clean aesthetics with a single-sided swingarm.Weight: At 217 kg, it’s heavier than most 600cc petrol naked bikes.

Will it launch in India?

  • Launch Probability: Low for 2026. While the patent was filed in India, Honda often does this for Intellectual Property (IP) protection. Current reports suggest that Honda India (HMSI) is prioritizing the Airblade (electric scooter) and the Active for the mass market.

  • If Launched: The WN7 would likely arrive as a CBU (Completely Built Unit)making it a niche flagship product rather than a volume seller.
