As soon as he assumed office, Vijay showed action, took big decisions on free electricity and women’s safety.
Tezzbuzz Desk- Tamil Nadu’s new Chief Minister Vijay has made his government’s priorities clear through swift decisions as soon as he assumed office. Within hours of taking oath, he signed many important files and took steps towards implementing the election promises.
Chief Minister Vijay first approved the scheme to provide free electricity up to 200 units every month to domestic consumers. This was a major election campaign promise of his party TVK. The government claims that this decision will provide great relief to the middle class and economically weaker families.
Apart from this, the new government has also taken a big step regarding the safety of women. The Chief Minister signed the file related to constituting a special security force for women. According to the government, this special unit will take swift action against crimes related to women and strengthen the security system.
To provide relief to women, the process of implementing free travel scheme in ordinary buses of the State Transport Corporation has also been started. The Chief Minister has instructed the officials that there should not be any delay in the implementation of the schemes and the benefits should reach the general public as soon as possible.
However, the biggest political message of victory came from the previous Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam government. He announced that a white paper would be released on the economic situation of the state from 2021 to 2026. Vijay claimed that the previous government had left huge debt on the state and it was necessary to make the public aware of the real economic situation.
In his address, Chief Minister Vijay promised to provide transparent and accountable governance. He said his government would be a “people’s government” and the promises made during the elections would be fulfilled in a phased manner.
Political analysts believe that through the decisions taken immediately after swearing in, Vijay wants to send the message that his government will be a fast-working and public interest-centric government. At the same time, the opposition has started raising questions about the economic impact and financial burden of these schemes.
