New Delhi: The vehicle fleet of ‘Maharashtra Sadan’, the official center of the Maharashtra government located in the country’s capital New Delhi, will soon undergo major changes. Specifically, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis The ‘bulletproof’ car that will be included in his convoy during his visit to Delhi will also be replaced now.

A new purchase is mandatory for security reasons

As per the government order, the current vehicles in Maharashtra Sadan’s fleet have completed their prescribed age limit and prescribed mileage. Maintenance of the old bulletproof vehicle became technically challenging from a safety point of view. Therefore, it became mandatory to purchase a new state-of-the-art vehicle for the safe travel of the Chief Minister. The administration has clarified that the procurement will be carried out in accordance with the strict norms of the state’s financial regulations and government procurement policy.

Chief Minister’s security on top priority

Strict protocols are followed for the security of persons holding high constitutional positions like Chief Minister and Governor. A bulletproof vehicle is very much needed for the movement of the Chief Minister in a sensitive area like Delhi. The additional cost of bullet proofing the new vehicle after purchase will be met from the respective government funds. For this, the tender process will be implemented soon, and the company that qualifies on the technical criteria will ‘bulletproof’ the vehicle.

These vehicles will be auctioned through the government transport department in a transparent manner. The amount collected from this auction will be deposited in the government treasury.

Administrative and routine procedures

According to administrative sources, replacement of government vehicles after a certain period of time is a routine procedure. In the previous high-level meeting, the security agencies had recommended deployment of vehicles equipped with latest technology for the security of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Taking cognizance of this recommendation, the Finance Department has sanctioned the necessary funds. Due to this, when the Chief Minister visits Delhi, his security arrangements will be more capable and modern.
