Japanese retail chain Don Don Donki to shut down Singapore’s HarbourFront Centre outlet
Japanese retail chain Don Don Donki has announced a plan to shut down its outlet at HarbourFront Centre in Singapore in July, with clearance discounts available on selected items.
The store will be closed on July 19 as the mall readies itself for redevelopment, and until then some items are being offered with discounts of up to 70%, according to a notice on social media.
Situated on the mall’s third floor above the cruise centre, the outlet has been a well-known destination for commuters, visitors heading to Sentosa and late-night shoppers in search of sushi, bentos and Japanese snacks.

The closure coincides with HarbourFront Centre’s upcoming major transformation. Originally opened in 1978 as World Trade Centre, the complex was subsequently renovated and relaunched as HarbourFront Centre in 2003.
It is set to be redeveloped into a 33-storey mixed-use development comprising retail and office spaces, as well as an elevated waterfront park, as reported by Channel News Asia.
The project forms part of the larger Greater Southern Waterfront initiative, which seeks to transform Singapore’s southern coastline into a lifestyle and recreational destination.
Don Don Donki’s remaining 16 Singapore outlets, including those at Orchard Central, Jem, Tampines 1, Suntec City, Waterway Point and 100 AM, will continue to operate as usual.
In March it shut down an outlet at Downtown East mall after nearly five years of operation. The chain made its local debut at Orchard Central in December 2017.
