PM Modi will attend Somnath Amrit Mahotsav, will inaugurate Sardardham Hostel in Vadodara today

Somnath: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Gir Somnath district of Gujarat on Monday and participate in the ‘Somnath Amrit Mahotsav’ at the Somnath temple at around 10:15 am. This temple is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas and is a symbol of India’s unwavering faith and civilizational heritage. The festival is being organized to commemorate 75 years of the inauguration of the renovated temple. Prime Minister Modi will attend several auspicious religious and cultural programs as part of the celebrations. They will participate in the ‘Special Mahapuja’, followed by the ‘Kumbhabhishek’ and ‘Dhwajarohan’ ceremonies, symbolizing the consecration ritual and unfurling of the temple flag. He will also address the crowd present there. The Prime Minister will also release a commemorative postage stamp and coin on the occasion to mark the rich heritage and spiritual significance of Somnath.

This is PM Modi’s second visit to Somnath this year. Earlier on January 10-11, he had participated in the ‘Somnath Swabhiman Parv’, which was celebrated to commemorate 1,000 years of the first major attack on the temple. Prime Minister Modi had said in a post on ‘X’ on May 8, “On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the consecration of the renovated Somnath temple, I will have the privilege of visiting there once again on May 11.”

He further said, “This occasion reminds us how generations of our country have continuously struggled to protect and rebuild this holy site. In this letter to the countrymen, I have expressed my feelings dedicated to the grand and divine Somnath Dham.”

Somnath Temple, located in Prabhas Patan, Veraval, is a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Later in the day, the Prime Minister will visit Vadodara, where he will inaugurate the ‘Sardardham Hostel’ at around 6 pm. The project includes hostel facilities for 1,000 boys and 1,000 girls along with facilities such as a central dining hall, library and auditorium. The Prime Minister will tour various facilities at the Sardardham complex, including the reception area, civic amenities, dining area and e-library and will also address a public meeting here.
