Chennai: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad praised his team’s “commitment and determination” after they pulled off a rare 200-plus chase to defeat Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by five wickets in a high-scoring IPL 2026 clash at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

“Yes, it got close, but when you are chasing 200, it often goes deep into the innings. It’s been a while since we chased such a total, so it feels good to get the job done,” Gaikwad said after the match.

“Hats off to Josh. He played some incredible shots which we didn’t have answers for. It was an amazing knock,” he said.

Looking ahead, Gaikwad stressed the importance of recovery, especially given the challenging weather conditions and a tight schedule.
“It’s been very hot and humid, and some players needed the break. We will use this time to recover and also focus on improving in key areas during practice,” he said.
