Amidst the West Asia crisis, PM Modi made 10 big appeals to the countrymen, said – Save petrol and diesel, avoid buying gold for a year.
Amidst the increasing tension in West Asia and increasing pressure on the global energy market, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has appealed to the countrymen for restrained use of resources in the national interest. During the event organized in Telangana, the Prime Minister called upon citizens to save fuel, adopt public transport, reduce foreign trips and control non-essential expenses.
Prime Minister Modi said that the US-Iran tension and the instability around the Strait of Hormuz can have an impact on the economy of the entire world. In such a situation, every citizen will have to play his role to make India self-reliant and strong.
He appealed to the people to use petrol, diesel and gas judiciously and said that the need of the hour is to reduce dependence on imported fuel. The Prime Minister suggested that wherever possible, public transport, metro and car pooling should be used so that fuel can be saved.
Referring to the Covid period, the Prime Minister said that arrangements like work from home, online meetings and video conferencing had given great relief to the country at that time. In the current circumstances, there is a need to adopt these measures again so that unnecessary travel is reduced and fuel consumption is reduced.
He also expressed concern over the increasing trend of destination weddings and holidays abroad. The Prime Minister appealed to citizens to avoid non-essential foreign trips and foreign weddings for at least a year.
Referring to the foreign exchange going out of the country on the import of gold, Prime Minister Modi said that families should postpone the purchase of gold for one year. This will strengthen the economic condition of the country.
He also expressed concern about the import of edible oil and chemical fertilizers. The Prime Minister said that if every family reduces the use of edible oil a little and farmers move towards natural farming instead of chemical fertilizers, then the country will get huge economic benefits.
Describing energy security as the biggest need of the future, the Prime Minister said that India is rapidly promoting solar energy, ethanol blending, piped gas and CNG based transportation system. He expressed confidence that with the support of the countrymen, India will face any global crisis strongly.
