Fuel Prices India: Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, said in a press conference that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appealed to all citizens to reduce the use of petrol and diesel. Use metro and public transport as much as possible, adopt carpooling, give priority to rail for freight transport, and increase the use of electric vehicles as much as possible. Sujata Sharma appealed to the people to try their best to save energy in their daily lives to reduce the economic burden on the country.
“Crude oil reserves are sufficient.”
Sujata Sharma further said that there has been disruption in the global energy supply chain across the world. Prices are fluctuating a lot in the international market. He said that the Government of India has taken several important steps to deal with this situation and to ensure that the common consumer continues to get fuel supply without any interruption. Sujata Sharma said that because of all these measures, India’s crude oil reserves remain substantial and the country’s refineries are functioning well.
“There is no shortage of LPG”
Sujata Sharma said that there has been no shortage of fuel at any retail outlet nor has there been any report of shortage of LPG. He further said that India has sufficient stock of petrol and diesel, and the supply of LPG for cooking at home continues. Sujata Sharma said that in the last three days, 12.6 million LPG cylinders have been delivered to homes against 11.4 million bookings. Similarly, in the last three days, commercial LPG sales have increased to more than 17,000 tonnes, and auto LPG sales have also increased to more than 762 tonnes.
