Argentina’s preliminary squad for FIFA World Cup 2026 announced, Lionel Messi included

New Delhi. Defending champions Argentina have announced their 55-man preliminary squad for the FIFA World Cup 2026. Argentina will enter this tournament starting next month in America, Canada and Mexico with the intention of defending the title. Team’s star player and captain Lionel Messi has also been included in the squad.

However, head coach Lionel Scaloni has made it clear that the final decision on whether Messi will play in the World Cup will completely depend on this star forward of Inter Miami.

Star player Paulo Dybala has not got a place in this preliminary team, which surprised the football fans.

Argentina has been placed in Group J in the World Cup 2026, where it will face Algeria, Austria and Jordan. The team will start its campaign against Algeria on 16 June.
