IPL 2026: Axar Patel fined Rs 12 lakh due to slow over rate

New Delhi. Delhi Capitals (DC) captain Axar Patel has been fined Rs 12 lakh for maintaining a slow over-rate in the match against Punjab Kings (PBKS). This match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) was played on 11 May 2026 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala, in which Delhi won by 3 wickets in a thrilling manner.

This action was taken for violation of rules related to minimum over rate under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct. Since this was Delhi Capitals’ first over-rate offense this season, captain Axar Patel was fined Rs 12 lakh.

Talking about the match, Punjab Kings, batting first, scored 210 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs. In reply, Delhi Capitals won the match by scoring 216 runs losing 7 wickets in 19 overs.

The half-century innings of captain Akshar Patel and David Miller played an important role in Delhi’s victory. Akshar Patel completed his half-century by hitting a four. Young all-rounder Madhav Tiwari contributed significantly to the team’s victory by performing brilliantly with both ball and bat.

With this victory, Delhi Capitals created a new history by achieving the target of 211 runs at Dharamshala ground. This proved to be the biggest successful run chase by any team on this ground.
