Sakshi Malik came out in support of Vinesh Phogat, made this demand from WFI
Desk: Now Sakshi Malik has also jumped into Vinesh Phogat’s ongoing dispute with the Wrestling Federation of India. Wrestler Sakshi Malik, who brought Olympic bronze for India with her tricks, has supported Vinesh Phogat. He said that Vinesh should be allowed to stand trial. Earlier, amid her dispute with the Wrestling Federation, Vinesh Phogat reached Gonda to participate in the National Open Ranking Tournament.
Sakshi Malik has released a video message in support of Vinesh Phogat, in which she is seen advocating for giving a trial and is also demanding from WFI to relax the rules for Vinesh. He said that there are many examples where federations of other countries ease the rules for their players, so that women there can play even after becoming mothers and win medals for the country. But, our federation imposes such rules two days in advance that Vinesh cannot give the trial.
After reaching Gonda on May 11, Vinesh Phogat met WFI President Sanjay Singh and sought his permission to enter the National Open Ranking Tournament for trials. But it was said that until she responds to the show cause notice, she cannot participate in any domestic tournament. Vinesh asked for time to reply to the notice, but she did not get that either. Vinesh has received a show cause notice for violation of anti-doping rules.
Vinesh Phogat accused WFI and said that they are doing all this so that I get tired and retire from wrestling. Now WFI is adamant on its stand. In such a situation, it will be interesting to see whether there will be any softening in the attitude of the Wrestling Federation after coming out in support of Sakshi Malik.
