Tamil Nadu Floor Test Drama! AIADMK split deepens as Rebel MLAs Back CM Vijay Government

Chennai: Tamil Nadu politics witnessed major turbulence on Tuesday as the AIADMK appeared divided ahead of the crucial Assembly floor test of Chief Minister. Vijay.

The political drama escalated after a faction of AIADMK leaders led by SP Velumani and CV Shanmugam announced support for Vijay’s TVK-led government. The development has sparked another intense AIADMK versus AIADMK battle within the party ranks.

Soon after the announcement, senior AIADMK leader Agri SS Krishnamurthy issued a stern warning to rebel MLAs, saying disciplinary action would be taken against anyone voting against the party’s official stand during the floor test.

“AIADMK has directed all its MLAs to vote against TVK in the Tamil Nadu Assembly floor test tomorrow. Action will be taken against those MLAs who act against the party’s directive,” Krishnamurthy said.

Support Letter Submitted to Assembly Speaker

Former Tamil Nadu minister and close associate of Edappadi K. PalaniswamiOS Manian, also entered the political battle and claimed that all 47 AIADMK MLAs had already extended support to EPS as the legislature party leader.

According to Manian, a formal support letter signed by MLAs had been submitted to Assembly Speaker JC D Prabhakar.

“All 47 AIADMK MLAs have extended support to Edappadi K Palaniswami as legislature party leader,” he stated.

The statement was seen as an attempt by the EPS camp to project unity amid growing signs of rebellion within the party.

Rebel Faction Declares Support to Vijay

Earlier in the day, the rebel AIADMK faction led by CV Shanmugam publicly announced support for the Vijay government after holding discussions with senior leaders and MLAs.

Shanmugam said he would personally meet Chief Minister Vijay and hand over a letter extending support to the government.

“We founded this party against the DMK. For 53 years, our politics have been centered around opposing the DMK,” he said while explaining the faction’s political stand.

The announcement has significantly increased uncertainty ahead of the floor test and could impact the political equations inside the Tamil Nadu Assembly.

Floor Test Likely to Decide Political Stability

With both camps aggressively lobbying MLAs, the upcoming floor test is expected to become one of the biggest political showdowns in Tamil Nadu in recent years.

Political observers believe the rebellion inside AIADMK could reshape opposition politics in the state while strengthening Vijay’s position if he manages to secure majority support in the Assembly.

All eyes are now on the Assembly proceedings, where the loyalty of MLAs could determine the future stability of the newly formed government.
